The Al-Gharbawi Family in Gaza needs your help to Survive and Evacuate to Safety
Organiser: I’m Pamela, based in Helsinki, raising funds for the Al-Gharbawi family in Gaza — people I care deeply about and have been in close contact with throughout this crisis. I’ve been following their situation daily, seeing the toll it’s taking, and I’m committed to helping them get to safety and rebuild their lives.
Goal: $60,000 (initial urgent target: $20,000)
Why This Fundraiser Matters
Sami and his extended family are currently displaced in Deir al-Balah after fleeing their destroyed homes [Sami’s parent’s home pictured] in northern Gaza (Al-Karamah).
They are 18 people now living in one apartment — including 7 children — doing everything they can to survive in the midst of devastating conditions. In the past month alone, they’ve spent:
$5,000 on rent $3,000 on flour $1,000 on milk $1,000 on diapers
Prices are shockingly high, when goods are available at all.
The Family’s Struggles
• Facing Starvation, Bombardments and Bullets: Their life is in constant danger as they struggle to survive and care for one another.
• Medical Emergency: Sami’s father is gravely ill with diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and severe joint pain.
• Interrupted Dreams: Sami was studying commerce at university. His education — and hopes for the future — are on hold. Everyone lost their work places and viable means of income and the children’s education is interrupted
• Separation: Sami’s older brother is in Egypt, but the rest of the family remains trapped in Gaza.
Our Goal
We aim to raise $60,000 to:
• Cover urgent living costs (food, rent, basic needs) • Fund safe evacuation to Egypt when possible (passports, travel) • Support medical treatment • Help the family rebuild their lives (food, rent, basic needs)
We’re starting with an urgent $20,000 target to meet immediate needs.
How Your Donation Reaches the Family
Direct bank transfers to Gaza are blocked and cash withdrawal commissions are high in all of Gaza at the time, but we have a secure and transparent process:
• Donations are collected through this platform • Funds are sent via Wise (TransferWise) • A trusted intermediary (Sami’s older brother in Egypt) delivers funds directly to the family’s account. • Proof of transfer (receipts/screenshots) will be provided
